Fiber Twist this weekend

can you believe that I still haven't knit anything! my fingers are getting itchy. soon, i think. I've been spinning a little here and there. I do, however, have two exciting fiber things on the horizon:

First: I'm going to go to the Franklin County Fiber Twist tomorrow. Its a really fun small fiber fest combined with an open farm/studio tour. It was great last year. Even though the weather report isn't looking great for farm visits tomorrow, there is still the indoor marketplace with vendors. I did not go to Rhinebeck this year. (Even though i am glad i didn't go, i'm still ignoring the blogs of everyone who did!) If you're like me and find Rhinebeck/MDS&W to be insanely overwhelming, this event is a really nice change. Just enough stuff to see in one day without ridiculous sensory overload, and its very easy to run into and visit with fiber friends and bloggers.

Second: I got a call from David at The Merlin Tree. My Hyacinthe wheel is finished!!! I will get it soon, and possibly this weekend. I am so very, VERY excited. I just have to figure out how to get it home, because it probably won't fit in the back seat of my little 'ol Corolla. eep!

busy and blue

i have a confession.
I haven't knit a stitch in weeks.

Partially because i was busy. My brother was in the boston for a few days before returning to Poland. He's been living there for 3 years now, so it was nice to see him briefly. I had a birthday; i'm 29 now. My dad is coming to visit from Seattle next week, gotta get the house clean.

The other reason is i was a bit blue for a few weeks. For some reason, i temporarily lost all desire to knit. or craft. or be creative in any way. I was fatigued and just wanted to veg out all the time. I really wasn't feeling "myself" there for a bit. Perhaps it was the change in seasons, or a little illness, or the start of the new school year, or the stress of grad school, or the birthday... who knows. Probably a combination of all of them hitting me at the same time. UGH!

I am feeling better now... but i haven't really jumped back on the knitting horse yet. I still have a sock in my purse, but i've forgotten the stitch pattern and haven't had the oomph to look it up. Its lost its appeal. I've been spinning here and there. And teaching my friend G to spin. She comes over and uses my wheel, while i just sit and watch her spin. eek, i need a knitting kick start! Even though i've got a bajillion unfinished ones, i think i need a sexy new project to get me fired up again. hrm....

I DID finish the shawl collar on St Moritz, but keep forgetting to take a picture of it. It came out pretty nice. Now the only thing left to do on that sweater is steek the sleeves and insert them. I guess its time to admit it... i'm terrified. Yes, i know the neck came out just fine, and i didn't even machine stitch it before cutting. But the sleeves will take more stress and i feel like they need the reinforcement. I've been reading up on crocheted steeks, but i'm terrified of those too. eek!
